Chapter 1. General Provisions
Article 1. Purpose
These Terms of Use (âTermsâ) set forth the rights, duties, responsibilities and procedures between Mathpresso Inc. and users in using Mathpressoâs application Qanda and relevant services.
Article 2. Definitions
The terms used in these Terms of Use shall be defined as follows:
âServiceâ refers to all services provided by the Qanda application and website http://qanda.co.kr/, including asking questions, receiving answers, searching solutions, and analyzing question types.
âUserâ refers to a customer who access Qanda and use the Service by signing a service use contract with Mathpresso Inc. in accordance with these Terms.
âPaid userâ refers to a user who has purchased a product with an expiry date.
âStudent userâ refers to a user who possesses a registered student ID of Qanda to ask questions for studying and research purposes.
âTeacher userâ refers to a user who possesses a registered teacher ID of Qanda to answer questions.
âManagerâ refers to a person selected by Mathpresso Inc. for overall management and operation of its services or Mathpresso Inc. itself.
âIDâ refers to the combination of letters and numbers set by the user and approved by Mathpresso Inc. for user identification and provision of services.
âPasswordâ refers to a combination of letters and numbers set by the user for user verification and privacy protection.
âCoinâ refers to data accumulated in our system when a user completes a certain action following Article 17.
âQuestion postâ refers to informational writings, pictures, various files and links in the form of signs, text messages, voice, sound, images and videos posted on Qanda to use its service in which users can ask questions.
âAnswer postâ refers to informational writings, pictures, videos, various files and links posted on Qanda to use its service in which users can answer questions by uploading images and videos.d
âAnswer selectionâ refers to selecting an âanswer postâ for a âquestion postâ when the âanswer postâ satisfies a certain condition (when it is intended by the user who posted the âquestionâ, when there is no response from the user who posted the âquestionâ for a certain period of time after the âanswer postâ has been uploaded, etc.).
Article 3. Notification and Modification to these Terms of Use
1. These Terms will be posted on âNoticeâ within the app and website http://qanda.co.kr/ (âwebsiteâ).
2. Mathpresso Inc. may modify these Terms if necessary following relevant statutes including the <ACT ON THE REGULATION OF TERMS AND CONDITIONS> and the <ACT ON PROMOTION OF INFORMATION AND COMMUNICATIONS NETWORK UTILIZATION AND INFORMATION PROTECTION, ETC.>
3. If Mathpresso Inc. revise these Terms, we will specify the date of update and the revision details and notify it via email or on the website bulletin board 14 days prior to the date of application.
4. If users do not agree with the revised Terms, they may stop using our service and choose to delete their account.
Article 4. Notice to Users
1. In the event that a user needs to be notified, Mathpresso Inc. may use methods including push messages, wired or wireless networks, and e-mail address disclosed by the user when registering an account. The notice may be substituted by posting it on the bulletin board of Mathpresso Inc.âs website for more than 14 days. However, for matters that have a significant impact on usersâ transaction and use of our website, they may be notified separately for more than 30 days using the same method as the previous paragraph.
Chapter 2. User Registration
Article 5. User Registration
1. Those who wish to sign up and use the Services provided by Mathpresso Inc. shall request for registration by entering relevant information in the registration form. You must read and understand these Terms and express consent before requesting registration. If necessary, Mathpresso Inc. may request for personal identification through a personal-identification institution.
2. Those who request for registration shall enter accurate personal information. The applicants shall be responsible for any disadvantages and legal liabilities resulting from entering inaccurate or false information.
3. Users must be at least 19 years of age to qualify as a Qanda Teacher.
4. If a user has been previously disqualified to maintain his or her account, has used a fake or another person's name, or if there is any other reason why he or she cannot be accepted, registration may be rejected.
5. Mathpresso Inc. may withhold registration due to its service-related capacity or other technical or operational reasons. In this case we will inform those who have requested for registration about the decision.
Article 6. Modification to User Information
1. Users can access and edit personal information anytime using the âEdit Profileâ function on the Qanda app.
2. Mathpresso Inc. shall not be liable for any disadvantages resulting from a userâs failure to modify the changes in the preceding paragraph.
Article 7. Responsibility for User ID and Password
1. Users shall be responsible for managing their ID and password, and shall not disclose it to others for use by a third party.
2. Users must notify Mathpresso Inc. immediately after they acknowledge their ID and password have been leaked and being used by a third party.
3. Mathpresso Inc. may request users to take necessary measures, such as changing their password for protection of personal information and prevention of any malicious use of its services. Users shall comply with this request immediately in good faith.
4. Mathpresso Inc. shall not be liable for any disadvantages resulting from a userâs failure to fulfill his or her duty in good faith following Article 2 and 3.
Article 8. Termination of Service Use Contract
1. If a user wishes to cancel the Service use contract, he or she can apply for termination by calling Mathpresso Inc. or through its website. We will reply to the user being informed of this fact when we do, and take measures accordingly without delay.
2. Mathpresso Inc. may terminate the Service Use contract when a user violates these Terms or related Acts.
Chapter 3. Use of Service
Article 9. Userâs Duties
If a user violates his or her obligations from any of the following paragraphs, Mathpresso Inc. may suspend or cancel use of all or some parts of the service for a limited period of time, or cancel the service use contract. In this case, all relevant posts will be deleted. In addition, Mathpresso Inc. may report to the Cyber Terror Response Center or take legal measures if necessary for posts as the following:
1. Registering illegal promotional spams
2. Disclosing or posting obscene or violent messages, videos, voice, or other information on our Service
3. Acts that undermine the well-being, order, or good manners of society, or posting information related to those acts in the form of signs, letter, voice, sound, video and spreading it to others.
4. Acts that defame or obstruct the service of Mathpresso Inc. and other third parties
5. Infringing intellectual property of Mathpresso Inc. and other third partiesâ including copyright
6. Appropriating othersâ information
7. Act of having usersâ own ID and password to be used by a third party
8. Engaging in commercial activities such as selling goods or services using service provided by Mathpresso Inc.
9. Interfering with another userâs service use or impersonating Mathpressoâs manager, staff, or any person concerned
10. Intentionally obstructing Mathpressoâs service operations or sending a large amount of information or promotional information for the purpose of doing so
11. Violating relevant statutes and other rules set forth in these Terms
12. Being reported by another user more than once due to rude, obscene, abusive or disparaging remarks
13. Other acts that are unjust or obstruct Mathpressoâs services
Article 10. Provision and Change of Service
1. In principle, Qandaâs service is provided 24 hours a day throughout the year.
2. Mathpresso Inc. may change its Services in case of significant operational or technical reasons.
3. Users shall be notified of the reason and details if the service is changed according to the preceding paragraph.
Article 11. Provision of Information and Posting of Advertisement etc.
1. Mathpresso Inc. may provide various information considered necessary for service use to users by posting it on the website, through e-mail or via phone.
2. Mathpresso Inc. may post advertisements regarding its Services on Mathpressoâs website and on the Qanda application.
3. Mathpreso Inc. shall not be liable for any losses or damages resulting from participation in, communication or transaction with advertisersâ promotional activities through its Services.
Article 12. Posts
1. âPostsâ refer to information such as writings, photos, pictures, videos, various files, links and messages posted on Qandaâs services to use its service including âQuestion postsâ and âAnswer postsâ.
2. In principle, âQuestion postsâ shall be hand-written or self-typed. If you need to quote, you must reveal the source.
3. âAnswer postsâ shall be self-written and in the form of images using the usersâ own handwriting, figures, text and graphic tools. They shall not be modified or reproduced from other copyrighted works. In the event of a violation of these rules, it shall be reported by the user who uploaded the âQuestion postâ before âAnswer selectionâ or through Mathpressoâs Rights Violation Center after âAnswer selectionâ.
Rights to âAnswer postsâ written by users after âAnswer selectionâ are reserved to Mathpresso Inc.
4. Posts may be exposed to users in Qanda's search services. The user who has written the âQuestion postâ can choose to keep his or her account information private, delete the post, or request its exclusion from search results through the Rights Violation Center. âQuestion postsâ are not deleted automatically even if users delete their account, so users must delete their âQuestion postsâ before deleting their account if they wish for the removal of the posts.
Article 13. Management of Posts
1. Users who upload a Question post cannot delete it if it has at least one answer comment or if an Answer post has been uploaded to that question.
2. If a user wishes to delete a Question post with at least one answer comment or post, he or she must obtain a written consent from the user who answered the question for the Manager to delete it.
3. Even if it is not a request by the user, Mathpresso Inc. may take measures such as deletion of posts in accordance with relevant laws in the event of a rights violation, a violation of these Terms and related statutes, or a violation of other management policies and related statutes.
4. The following posts may be deleted by the Manager without prior notice:
â Posts reported by other users
⥠Spam posts including more than one question in one Question post photo
⢠Spam posts uploaded consecutively more than twice within one minute
⣠Question posts without an answer that are copies of an uploaded question
⤠Answer posts unrelated to the question of a Question post
⼠Posts unrelated to learning such as photos of people, messages that ask for personal information, and photos that reveal personal information
⌠Posts that ask for money transaction
â§ Posts that offend others including abusive comments
5. Any person whose legal interests have been violated by information posted on Qandaâs Services may request Mathpresso Inc. to delete it or upload a refuting post. In this case, Mathpresso will take necessary measures without delay and notify the applicant immediately.
6. Mathpresso Inc. may use and modify usersâ posts on our website and application for marketing purposes.
Article 14. Copyright
1. Copyright and publishing rights of âAnswer postsâ after âAnswer selectionâ are reserved to Mathpresso Inc.
2. Users shall be responsible for matters regarding posts made by them.
3. Usersâ posts in our Service may be disclosed in search services and related promotions. Some revisions, copies and editions may be made to the extent necessary for such exposure.
4. In the event a userâs post in our Service violates another person's copyrights, show copyrights, etc., it can be reported to the Rights Violation Center operated by Mathpresso. Mathpresso Inc. may review the report and delete the post in question.
5. Users shall not use information obtained using Mathpressoâs service for profit or let a third party use it by reproducing, sending, publishing, distributing, broadcasting, etc. without Mathpressoâs consent in advance.
6. Content of usersâ âquestion postsâ may be extracted and stored in a separate form from its original format.
Article 15. Attribution of Rights
1. Copyright and intellectual property rights in our Services shall be reserved to Mathpresso Inc. However, usersâ posts and works provided under a partnership agreement shall be excluded.
2. Mathpresso Inc. grants users the right to use paid contents depending on the conditions of use. Users cannot dispose of this right through transfer, sales, or providing collateral.
Article 16. Orders and Purchases
1. Users may apply for purchase of goods and contents through the procedure set by the company. The following items shall be displayed on each product and content or on related posts.
- name, kind, substance, price, and age limit of goods and contents
2. Users can pay for paid services through a procedure specified by us. However, payment by minors shall be made in the name or consent of the legal guardian. The legal guardian may cancel the contract of the child(minor) that is signed without his or her consent.
Article 16-1. Cancellation and Refund
1. Users who concluded a contract with us on the use of paid services may apply for a refund within 7 days from the date of purchase or the start date of using paid services.
- If you are a paid user, you are considered to have used the utility value of the product due to the nature of digital content. Therefore, in accordance with Article 17(Cancellation, etc., of Orders) paragraph 2 of the <ACT ON THE CONSUMER PROTECTION IN ELECTRONIC COMMERCE, ETC.>, it will be considered that the value of the goods has decreased significantly, and a portion of the purchase price shall be refunded. The refund rate is as follows:

Over 80% of coupons remaining : 70% of purchase amount
50~80% of coupons remaining : 50% of purchase amount
30~50% of coupons remaining : 30% of purchase amount
Under 30% of coupons remaining : non-refundable
(Extra charge based on payment agency / bank fees)
- Refunds will not be accepted if the user's account is suspended due to a violation or possible violation of the Terms.
2. Users can apply for a refund through Mathpresso customer service.

3. Refunds shall be processed within three business days from the date we reply to the userâs refund request. If the refund cannot be made, the user shall be notified in advance.
4. All Qandaâs paid services are non-refundable after 7 days from the date of purchase or the start date of using paid services.
Article 17. Coin Accumulation
1. Teacher users receive coins when their answer to the question provided by Qanda and posted by the student user is selected.
2. Coins accumulated can be checked from the My Info page of our Service.
3. Whenever there is a difference between the amount of coins entered on the server and that on the client, the standard amount shall always be the figures on the server. Difference in the amount of coins due to asynchronization between the server and client cannot be corrected.
4. Taxes and public utilities' charge from Coin accumulation shall be the usersâ burden.
5. Coins cannot be transferred, inherited, lent or used for collateral. Exceptions shall be made when Mathpresso approves.
Article 18. Use of Affiliate Content
1. Users can use and purchase various affiliated content in the Service using the coins they have accumulated.
2. The content of partnership may change depending on Mathpresso Inc.âs other negotiation circumstances.
3. In the case of affiliated content used at sites such as coffee shops and convenience stores, Mathpresso Inc. will have duly fulfilled its duty by sending a barcode to the userâs mobile device.
4. If a refund is requested for a coupon solely due to a change of heart, 90% of the coupon amount will be given as Coins. However, coupon refunds will be limited after 3 days of purchase.
5. There may be some non-refundable items, in which case will specified in coupon details.
6. Mathpresso Inc. shall not be held liable if the affiliated company is clearly responsible in the dispute concerning the use of affiliated content.
Article 19. Cash Redemption of Coins
1. Users with a certain amount of coins or more may redeem it to cash on the Serviceâs "store" screen following procedures set by Mathpresso Inc.
2. The minimum amount of coins that can be converted into cash is determined by Mathpresso Inc.âs policy and can be checked within our Service.
3. In principle, the conversion rate is one dollar($1) per 5000 coins. However, fees may be incurred depending on the management policy. Users can check the details on our Service.
4. The payment will be considered to have been duly fulfilled when Mathpresso Inc. deposits the amount into the bank account set by the user.
5. Cash conversion is treated as a business income under the <INCOME TAX ACT> and 3.3% (including local taxes) of the total amount will be withheld. Additional information will be requested to the user for cash redemption and withholding income tax
- Name of bank, account number, name of account holder
- Resident registration number
Article 20. Correction, Cancellation, and Deletion of Coins
1. In the event of an error in coin accumulation, users may request correction to Mathpresso Inc. within 90 days from the date of error. Mathpresso Inc. shall correct the problem within 90 days from the date of request if it is confirmed to be legitimate.
2. If a user has accumulated coins without registering his or her answers or without his or her answers being selected through dishonest means such as client change, hacking, or macro, it will be considered as dishonest accumulation and the coins will be corrected to zero.
3. If a userâs coins remain unchanged for six months, all accumulated coins for that ID will be deleted. In this event, Mathpresso Inc. will notify the user of this fact via e-mail and in-app push notification 30 days in advance.
Chapter 4. Miscellaneous
Article 21. Mathpressoâs Duties
1. Mathpresso Inc. shall do its best to provide a sustainable and stable service.
2. For users who violate these Terms or operation policies set by Mathpresso Inc. or relevant statutes, Mathpresso Inc. shall be obliged to force account deletion or take legal measures in accordance with relevant statutes.
3. Mathpresso Inc. shall protect personal information recorded when a user applies for registration and additionally recorded later, and personal information created in using its Service following relevant statutes such as the <ACT ON PROMOTION OF INFORMATION AND COMMUNICATIONS NETWORK UTILIZATION AND INFORMATION PROTECTION, ETC.>.
4. Mathpresso Inc. shall regularly send a letter to its users regarding the details of its Service and usage. (Notice, SMS, E-mail, etc.)
5. Mathpresso Inc. shall do its best to support users in the procedures and content regarding contracts such as signing a use contract, modifying and terminating the details of a contract.
6. Mathpresso Inc. does not guarantee the authenticity of the gender/school/grade entered by users. We verify information regarding the attending school or school of graduation when Teacher users sign up following our internal policy, but this Mathpresso Inc. shall not be held liable for the authenticity of the documents submitted by the users.
Article 22. Termination of Contract
1. The following conditions shall be recognized as the terms of termination of contract:
- Request for deletion of account by the userâs will.
- Expression of intention to Mathpresso Inc.
2. Users who fail to faithfully fulfill their obligations or have acted in violation of these Terms and policies may be forced to withdraw without prior notice. If it is considered difficult to continue to fulfill a contract due to usersâ circumstances, those accounts may be suspended and terminated. (e.g. in case of dead or missing users, dormant users who are not active for a certain period of time or longer)
Users may appeal the measures of this paragraph following the procedure set by Mathpresso Inc. If the objection is justified, Mathpresso Inc. shall immediately continue its service to the users.
3. In cases of violation of these Terms or other actions violating the statues of the Republic of Korea, users shall be deprived of their right without warning and Mathpresso shall not make any compensation to users.
Article 23. Privacy Protection
1. Mathpresso Inc. believes protection of usersâ personal information is very important. We are doing our best to ensure good user experience of Qandaâs service and thorough protection of personal information provided to Mathpresso Inc.
2. For more information on privacy protection, you can find the details in Privacy Policy provided in digital format on the Qanda website.
Article 24. Disclaimer
1. Mathpresso Inc. may change the Service being provided for operational and technical purposes. Details of the change will be posted on the website operated by Mathpresso Inc. or notified to users via E-mail or SMS. However, in cases where Mathpresso Inc. cannot notify in advance such as the occurrence of a fatal bug, a defect in server device, or resolution of an urgent security issue, we may notify it after the event has occurred.
2. Mathpresso Inc. may limit some parts of or all service use in the event of the following:
â In cases of uncontrollable events such as war, natural disaster, or national emergency
⥠In cases where there is difficulty of normally using our service due to events such as power failure, equipment failure, or heavy traffic
⢠For inevitable reasons such as repair or construction of a service facilities
⣠In cases where service is not available due to various circumstances of Mathpresso Inc.
3. In cases where Mathpresso Inc. needs to discontinue all or part of its service due to service restructuring, operational necessities, or an urgent situation, it may be notified on its website 30 days in advance and the service may be discontinued. Users cannot claim compensation for a subscription product or expired items when all or part of the service is discontinued. In case of permanent items, period of use shall be until the end date of the service announced at the time of the discontinuation notice.
4. Mathpresso Inc. shall be exempted from liability for any problems caused by discontinuation of telecommunication services or operation failure by telecommunication service providers.
5. Mathpresso Inc. shall not be held liable for any failure in service use due to reasons attributable to users. Mathpresso Inc. shall not be held liable for damages caused by usersâ failure to understand the contents of the service or obtain the expected benefits from the service provided.
6. Mathpresso Inc. shall not be held liable for the credibility and accuracy of user profiles unless it declares to verify it separately, and shall not be liable for any resulting damages including mental or material damages.
7. Copyright of articles uploaded by users to Mathpresso Incâs posts is reserved to users themselves. Users shall be liable for all civil and criminal charges arising from issues such as the authenticity of posts, libel, and copyright violation.
8. Users shall be liable for problems caused by negligence of their duties to check the notice on Mathpresso Inc.âs services such as its website.
9. Mathpresso Inc. does not guarantee the identity of users. In addition, the assailant user shall be held liable if he or she causes economic, mental, or material damage to another user.
Article 25. Resolution of Dispute
1. Any dispute regarding the transaction or use of content between Mathpresso Inc. and users may be settled through the Content Dispute Resolution Committee.
2. The jurisdiction of a lawsuit between Mathpresso Inc. and users shall be the court which has jurisdiction over the usersâ address or residence at the time of filing. However, if the usersâ address or residence is unclear at the time of filing, the jurisdiction shall be decided according to the <CIVIL PROCEDURE ACT>.
Article 26. Copyright Attribution and Limitation in Use
1. All rights such as trademark, logo, and intellectual property rights regarding our Services and advertising content are reserved to Mathpresso Inc.
2. Users shall not use the information obtained using our Services for profit or let it be used by a third party by means of reproduction, transmission, publication, distribution, broadcasting or other means without Mathpressoâs consent in advance.
Article 27. Termination of Service
1. Mathpresso Inc. shall inform users three months prior to the date of termination of service by means of Article 3 Paragraph 3 of these Terms.
2. Coins that have been accumulated as of the date of notice on termination of service must be used following these Terms by the end date of service. Users cannot claim the rights to the coins as they will expire automatically after the termination of service.
Article 28. Governing Law and Jurisdiction
1. Any legal disputes between Mathpresso Inc. and its members shall be governed by the laws of Republic of Korea.
2. Any cases concerning disputes between Mathpresso Inc. and its members shall be filed to the Seoul Central District Court or the court of jurisdiction under the <CIVIL PROCEDURE ACT>.
